COURSE: Textiles 2018

The ColourFlora collection provides statement floral surface patterns for interiors that inject joyful colour and character into the home.

Digital and hand printing techniques combined to create colourful and exquisite textile designs.

Taking inspiration from the abstract beauty of florals, the ColourFlora collection aims to transform interiors into bright and cheerful spaces using collaged shapes and colour. Each design in the collection has been hand crafted through collage, utilising the unique and sometimes overlooked shapes from the exquisite array of florals found in nature.

Recent interior trends have often been saturated in muted tonal colours such as Dulux’s colour of the year, Heart Wood. However, there has also been a rise in popularity for the once ‘tacky’ neon sign. Fluorescent colours have been readily available throughout stationery products for several years, however technological limitations may have prevented neon colours making a break through to the interiors sector. This collection aims to inject much needed playful colour into the home with commercial, statement prints. Elements of the collection are uplifted with innovative, contemporary and tasteful pops of neon through screen print and hand painting techniques. These impactful, mid to high end prints challenge the scale of interior textiles, offering generous, bold motifs and repeats. Inspiration is also gained from artists and designers such as Henri Matisse and Josef Frank.
