I am an introvert. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with me.
We have been told that too much solitude is unhealthy. That we are ‘too intense’ only because we prefer deep, thoughtful conversation to petty small talk. We are sometimes considered snobbish because we don’t think that two is necessarily better than one. Having been told all our lives that our way is not the right way, we’ve spent our lives trying to ‘come out of our shell’ or else bite out tongues and indulge our introversion surreptitiously, like it’s a dirty secret. But the fact is, introverts are a legion, and dying for affirmation. We are who we are and that is what makes the world interesting.
