The New Digital Shopping Era

- As a recent Fashion Business & Promotion Graduate, I have gained a strong interest within digital marketing and social media. Throughout my 3 years I have attained experience within these fields and pushed myself to focus on these particular areas within different modules. -

Final Major Project stemmed from my dissertation in terms of how digital technology is changing the retail shopping environment. The module consisted of writing up a business plan for Zara as well as collaborating with professionals. This enabled me to push my work forward gaining professional insight into features such as fitting room costs as well as combining my work with a photographer.
Using Photoshop, InDesign and XD, I created mock ups for inside the Zara store such as in-house marketing, new fitting rooms and front of house installations to work alongside the new, upgraded app.

My dissertation focused on the growth of social media influencers within the fast fashion industry. The report highlighted the differences between an influencer and ambassador, as well as collaborating with influencer ‘FabHannah’ to gain her perspective on the changing methods of marketing fashion to different generations. This project allowed me to advance further into the world of social media marketing which I thoroughly enjoyed. Exploring the behind the scenes and logistics into how an influencer can market a brand was fascinating, particularly as social media marketing is growing rapidly.

During Events Management, I was the social media manager. Having control over the way our brand Sweat Sessions promoted itself has been really beneficial in getting experience about the way that social media works.
My role was to promote or advertise on social media platforms by creating posts using Photoshop to engage with our followers and encourage them to attend the event. I also assisted the marketing manager as our roles combined through certain aspects. We raised over £300 for St Basil’s Charity.

My 3 years of university and 4 years in retail have encouraged me to follow down the digital marketing and social media path. Working on social media platforms whilst in a part time job, as well as a placement within a PR company have meant I have achieved experience within software such as:
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Microsoft Office / Excel
- Mailchimp
- Social Media

My ambition for the future is to work within digital marketing and social media sectors, reflecting on my passions. I strive to work in a sector that interests me and pushes me to become creative and innovative in my work.
