"The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me?" Ayn Rand

I am a graduate who is keen to begin a career within the marketing, social media and PR sector within beauty. Over the past 3 years I have gained all the relevant skills and knowledge, from education and industry experience, that I need to start a job within the industry. My interest in beauty has developed over the course of my 3 years at University which let to me focusing my final year solely on the beauty industry.

My dissertation explored the way that influencers are used as a marketing tool to promote and advertise on social media. Later exploring how this effects the consumer and their buying habits. To begin this document I gained knowledge about the beauty industry to understand the size and who the leaders are. Following on from this I focused on Brands and influencers, conducting relevant case studies about brands to understand how they use influencers to their advantage.

It was important to understand the current consumers within the beauty market to develop my work further into my Final Major Project, therefore It was important to understand why millennials are 'selfie lovers'. Social media can be used so many ways within the beauty industry including purchasing make up through sites such as Instagram. Exploring all aspects of Social media sites led to understanding what they have to offer. All this research led to me understanding what the future holds for the beauty market and where it can develop further, which then led to making recommendations for specific growth.

To finalise my third year at University I completed my Final Major Project, creating a new and exciting business idea for NYX cosmetics. This brand was identified as a brand that has potential to grow and expand if an innovative concept is created. In order to ensure that the concept is suitable for the brand I needed to conduct research into their consumers and competitors to have a full understanding of the brand and how it runs. A business plan for the new concept was created which laid out the concept, target consumer, market competitors, operations, marketing and finances.

The final concept idea was an immersive, educational experience using Augmented Reality. Taking inspiration from other beauty brands but combining it all in to one experience. To back up the business plan I created visuals for the concept which included designing a mobile app, 3D masterclass space and marketing materials.
