Through deep research for my dissertation ‘When is it our time to shine?’ I was able to accomplish that the UK creative scene lacked inclusivity and a platform for Black men to freely express themselves without stereotypes being thrown their way. This later motivated me in creating a business that would not only celebrate and give recognition to Black men, however a safe space for them to feel connected and understood.
Challenging and mending audiences’ opinion of what being a black male in the UK means, a wide debate was developed, delivering an awareness into what may have been an effect causing the mistaken representation and misconstruction of the importance in being a Black man’ in the UK.
The Final Major Project visual details the build-up and research of the concept, the visualisation behind the brand, and a user app sample outlining the features.
Noir is a magazine that uncovers, inspires and celebrates UK Black male creatives, also a tribute to the ‘Black’ community with influences from UK rappers.
This is accomplished by supporting up and coming talents in the UK creative scene, as well as voicing the passion and originality stemming from talents.
Noir will be the home for black men, allowing them to support each other and giving audiences’ the chance to connect with them through creativity.
