EVA is a mood boosting, food recommendation chatbot app. This app uses artificial intelligence to understand how a user is feeling and base their food & snack recommendations on heir mood.
Whilst doing research throughout the competition module, I gained an interest in mental health and how the food that we put into our body can be one of the reasons our emotional health is affected. The ease of fast food and cheapness of unhealthy products may be a reason behind the rise in people dealing with a mental health issue.
I wanted to create an easy-to-use concept for my Final Major Project to combat the issue with mental health, with food in mind. This is how EVA came to life – EVA is your ‘Eating Virtual Assistant’ app. The app uses Artificial Intelligence – of which I based my dissertation on – to create a highly personalised, automated chatbot with the user.
When the user creates an account with EVA, they will have to fill out a questionnaire to allow the app to have a further understanding of the user. This will involve the user revealing their height, weight, date of birth but also their food likes and dislikes, and how the user feels in certain situations.
The user will use the app to talk to EVA about how they are feeling. Depending on the time of the day, the user’s mood, what food they have already eaten that day and all the information entered at the sign up process will help EVA recommend some mood boosting meals or snacks.
In the second year, as a group, we created a Mad Hatters Gin Tasting. This made me realise that a career in events would be something that I would be interested in. We worked on fundraising money through bake sales to put on the event, and any extra money gained at the event went towards St Basils Charity for the homeless. The event was held at The Botanist decorated with Alice in Wonderland in mind whilst also hiring magicians, jugglers and actresses all dressed up as characters from the movie. This module was a very rewarding module for me.

This module caught my attention in the first year. For the first time, it allowed me to explore my creativity as well as keeping a logical and business-focused mind. Buying and Merchandising allowed me to understand the Adobe Creative Cloud more clearly, and therefore started my love for being more creative in many aspects of my life.
