The aim of my project is to highlight the Black Country and portray the industrial significance it has had in the past; I will produce a range of 10-15 textile final pieces as well as a sketchbook that reflects my research and celebrates the importance of the Black Country. I wanted to make my project on the Black Country because there is a negative perception about the area, and I want to showcase the amazing aspects that have come from the Black Country and how it effected the rest of the country in the industrial revolution. This project is personal to me and I am passionate about it because it is where myself and previous generations of my family are from and I am proud of that. I will focus on the produce that came from the Black Country for example iron works, chain making and nail makers.
I will focus on the materials that came from the Black Country for example iron works, chain making and nail makers and will research into artist who has produced work based on tools and other topics that are related to the examples above. I will conduct thorough research into textile artists for inspiration for other printing techniques and embroidery methods that will develop my ideas a step further.
