Glitter Shit | The Nightingale Club

Glitter Shit

For this project I was asked to create costumes for two drag queens to wear at a local club night, Glitter Shit. This was held at The Nightingale Club in March. The theme of the night was Camping, so I chose to go with stories of haunted campsites to create my concept. Lilith's costume was inspired by The Witch Dance of the Natchez Trace in Mississippi, which then went on to inform my research on witch trials and the burning of witches, which then linked back to the camping theme through campfires. Lacey's costume was inspired by Blakemere Pool in the Peak District, where legend says there is a mermaid who haunts the lake. The theme was later dropped and I was asked to make Lacey's costume brighter than we had originally discussed in order to attract more attention on the night. I designed and made the costumes to then produce a video of my clients performing, and then conducted a photoshoot at a later date.
