This project and the overall BA (Hons) degree in Fashion Business and Promotion, has thus far provided me with a substantial foundation. I thrive on organisation and as a result have refined exceptional time-management and organisational skills. In addition, my extensive involvement and proficiency to work within a team.
According to Alzheimer’s Research UK, Alzheimer’s is currently the biggest killer in the world. Despite this, Alzheimer’s has a higher failure drug trial rate than cancer (99.6%). What is known about the disease has been discovered in the last 15 years, with studies suggesting that 1 in 2 people will have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s by the age of 90 (Tedtalk, 2018).
In addition, more recently it has been discovered that Alzheimer’s is preventable through lifestyle and only 1% of Alzheimer’s cases are a result of genetic makeup (Tedtalk, 2018). In recent years studies argue some of the risks associated with Alzheimer’s, is due to lifestyle choices; with the disease developing in the body decades before the first symptom of memory loss shows (Tedtalk, 2018). Despite this, society has developed a stigma that Alzheimer’s is an ‘old person’s disease’.
In response to the research and current climate, Saige, (a membership and optional product) was designed to engage and support health conscious Generation Z consumers to decrease risk Alzheimer’s through lifestyle, targeting the main aspects of behavioural lifestyle.
To combat this global issue and decrease the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, Saige is proposing to create a digital and optional physical platform. The aim of the digital platform is to identify individual’s strengths and weaknesses, sending them specific statistics and data applicable to them and their journey. Thus, supporting Generation Z, the consumer, in preventing Alzheimer’s disease through a positive change in their lifestyle and behaviour. The membership will provide third party offers, community sharing experiences and the opportunity to opt into a paid for subscription product which will offer physical aids to prevent Alzheimer’s.
Nevertheless, I plan to develop my understanding and transfer these skills to pursue a career in Events Management.
