TITLE: "I CAN BE BETTER THAN DAN"

I don’t tell you you’re ugly... But I don’t have to tell you because you already know your ugly
SLAY DARLING
About:
This concept explores the expression of sex for its physical appendage. Allowing body parts to become inanimate. Diminishing the vulgarity of a socially controversial subject. Allowing us to adopt a new perspective on celebrating sex and the human form.

TITLE: AM I A MAN?

A child is envious of the opposite gender due to their genitalia.
If you understand transgender, then you understand that gender doesn't have to do with bed partners, it is to do with identity.
About:
The concept behind "AM I A MAN?" is that of gender envy and the identity behind gender itself. Inspired by Freud's theory of gender envy in young children, the silhouette and colour palette have responded to that. The playful colours and print reflect that of a child's understanding of gender and how free the emotions are that accompany it.

TITLE: The Uncertainty Paradox

INTOLERANCE OF YOUR PRESENT CREATES YOUR FUTURE
When people feel threatened, they often respond by becoming more confident in and more defensive of their prior beliefs, more closed-minded, and more aggressive toward those who disagree with them
About:
The Uncertainty Paradox: Suggests that the views of society regress back to old fashioned and prior values and beliefs due to people being threatened by 'aliens'. The recurring 'old fashioned' views of extreme Russia and the uprising of facist Britain have been explored to understand the cause behind current civic frustrations and the affect of these views on groups of people.
The clash of these views are represented to create a bold and bright collection.

TITLE: Accidents Are Never To Seek

Accident: An unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury.
Celebrate your scars they are part of who you are.
About:
Accidents Are Never To Seek is a Luxury women's wear collection. The Inspiration behind the collection came from an accident I had a few years ago where I broke my neck in two places. It was a traumatic experience and something I will never forget. Accidents are usually horrific events which are unplanned and unwanted. Unlike my accident the characters in the film Crash seek disaster and stage crashes for pleasure. Crash explores the paraphilia of symphorophilia. If someone has symphorophilia they are erotically turned on by accidents or catastrophes. In the film they celebrate their scars and injuries and they find them sexy and attractive. The collection takes influences from the film, my accident and also the recovery process, particularly when the body is injured beyond recovery and the bionics used within medicine. The embroidery was developed because of the 3D texture of the scars themselves, the shape was taken from my original neck x-rays.

In the film there are many shots of the characters touching and feeling different surfaces designed to arouse the viewer. This is mainly metal debris from the accident itself but also textured fabrics such as leather, suede and fur. I wanted to use these materials within my collection to reflect this but also for their protective qualities.

The collection is a celebration of life and injury with a sexy and fun feel.

TITLE: Absence of Innocence

It's not ok to put a baby's head on a bondage garment! So why would you put a baby in sexual suggestive clothing?
The first 10 years of a girls life is spent playing with Barbies and the next 10 years are spent trying to look like one.
About:
I am a Leather Accessories designer, I design unconventional accessories. My concept for my Final Major Project was based on how young girls are being sexualised in todays society. I mixed juxtaposing concepts, the idea of a young child's innocence, and highly sexualised silhouttes to create such a provocative and socially unexceptable collection. My accessory collection seems to come across paradox, and makes many people ask questions about the topic.

TITLE: Escapism

A young girl romanticises her future with intense detail and desires
Cocooned life and swaddled in possession
About:
Inspired by Anne Frank's diary, I researched into how one seeks a form of escapism for different desires. Influenced by the naivety of Henrik Ibsen's play 'A Doll's House' I explored into 1950s housewives. As a young girl romanticises their future with intense detail, they fail to see the reality of their cocooned life and swaddled in possession until they break free and become their own woman.

TITLE: Origins

I didn’t start this project anticipating that I could stop the world from changing.
I purely wanted to create a visual document that reminds us and generations to come of how beautiful the human world once was.
About:
This concept stemmed from an exhibition which explored the origins of indigenous cultures and the rarity of them in today’s society. I myself was inspired by this phenomenon as our world is losing its individuality and we are forming a monotonous race. i focus on the eradication of cultures and the conflicts faced.

TITLE: Votes for Women

Always remind yourself that doing what you like is key to happiness and eventually to success.
Don't be afraid to be unique. That's the most important thing you will ever have to offer!
About:
My research started about Lithuania’s, my home country's historical event, fight for independence back in 1991. Being suppressed as a nation and not being able to speak your mother tongue language freely, follow Lithuanian traditions and celebrate holidays affected all people at that time. Gaining independence back was a big win and still is, unfortunately influences of Soviet Union are still felt to this day. Moreover, independence enabled women to stand their ground more firmly and start another fight for equality.
