Creative and ambitious Fashion Branding & Communications graduate, keen to gain employment within the communications sector, with an emphasis on fashion and strong interest in digital media, art direction and marketing, looking for a city-based role at entry level. Through working on various modules and undertaking relevant work experience, I have been able to explore multiple sectors and areas within the fashion industry that have sparked enthusiasm in me. Through this exploration, I have become very interested in visual communications, particularly via the use of digital media, which can be applied to roles within the industry.
Independent Final Project – Opteemist
Opteemist, a play on the words ‘Optimist’ and ‘T-shirt’, was created around my passion for mental wellness. Combining that with my strong interest in visual communications, I produced the following visual outcomes:
4 graphically designed T-shirts with different thought-provoking quotes
A website which includes the shop and ‘wellness’ section full of articles on mental wellness
A zine full of graphically designed quotes, articles on mental wellness and interviews with mental health advocates
A strong Instagram feed which has been used to promote the T-shirts and to form a community based around sharing advice to help improve mental wellness.
I enjoyed exploring different forms of visual communication I could implement my passion for mental wellness in and collaborating with other students allowed me to develop my team-management and organisation skills.
‘Check It Out’ Trend Story for Style Bham
I completed the Industry Competition module in second year. This involved working in a group and creating a trend story for fashion and lifestyle media platform Style Birmingham for A/W18. I was cast the role of Fashion Director, so the tasks I had included creating mood-boards, sourcing clothing and accessories, sourcing a model and photographer, organising, styling and directing the photoshoot, working closely with the photographer. This module allowed me to experience all the extensive planning and research that goes into a photoshoot, and I really enjoyed the creative process of turning a vision into a reality.
Art directing for Fragile Ego Clothing
Alongside university, I have led some additional projects to further develop my skills and interests within the fashion industry. I have worked with UK streetwear brand Fragile Ego Clothing to create design concepts for photo-shoots which involved a lot of research and planning, creating mood-boards and directing the shoots.
