THE INSPIRATION FOR MY CONCEPT LOOKS INTO A SPECIFIC INDIVIDUAL SOCIAL NORM WHICH AFFECTED THE WAY INDIAN WOMEN DRESSED DURING THE BRITISH RAJ (RULE) IN THE 19TH CENTURY. LOOKING INTO A SOCIAL ACTIVIST JNANADANANDINI DEVI, WHO ESTABLISHED VARIOUS CULTURAL IMPROVEMENTS AND INFLUENCED THE INITIAL PERIOD OF WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT DURING THE BRITISH RAJ. DEVI AND HER HUSBAND SATYENDRANATH TAGORE, ONE OF THE FIRST INDIAN TO JOIN THE INDIAN CIVIL SERVICE AND ALSO A SOCIAL REFORMER WHO HAD MADE A SUBSTANTIAL CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS THE LIBERATION OF WOMEN IN THE INDIAN SOCIETY
