Buying and Merchandising :
This module will introduce you to the buying and merchandising principles, which contribute to fashion business practice. You will understand the different roles of the buyer and merchandiser, within different retail formats. To achieve business success in a highly competitive market, the buying and merchandising function needs to be meticulous in assessing consumer demands and market trends when developing product ranges.
The project will be based around the high street retailer AllSaints, and you will be required to develop a detailed range of clothing within one department for SS18. You will choose either Menswear or Womenswear. Research is a key element of this project and in-depth research is required to justify your final range.
You will conduct initial research in the form of brand research, and a competitive shop report for both AllSaints and two of their competitors. These observations will support the fashion product, retail environment and consumer profile for your chosen department. It is important to compare like for like to measure the retail landscape effectively and identify any future opportunities
